A recent study published by the National Association of Realtors maintains that inground swimming pool installations can increase the value of homes from 8 percent to as much as 15 percent. There are some variations by region: In the Southeast the increase in value ranges from 5 to 10 percent, while in the Southwest this ranges from 8 to 13 percent. In addition, in the northern areas, the increase in value range is an average of 6 percent.
If you live in a hot climate, it is most likely a plus.
Having a private pool is a great experience and it gives you the opportunity to swim whenever you feel like it in the privacy of your own garden. Private pools vary in size depending on the property.
Finally the area of “Staycations” is the costs SAVINGS. Sure your pool area might cost around 40k to create your own private oasis….BUT….it could be costing you $8000 a year to go to a getaway destination and other misc trips through the year to “get away” were costing another $4000.

By having your own personal oasis you can cut that travel and still feel like you’ve gone away! True this model might not fit everyone, but the application is still there to a lesser degree…..and there are plenty of pool options out there to cut the cost in half if not more depending how handy you are.
Some realtors say that swimming pools are an amenity that potential buyers may shy away from, while others argue that they are a necessity – especially when it comes to homes in upscale areas. So research your area and see what the other homeowners around you are doing this will give you a good idea of your return on your investment.

When it comes to pool-building budgets, our philosophy is this: Spend it where you’ll see it.
When you envision your dream pool, the pool itself is usually a foundation upon which your backyard oasis is built. So build the most basic pool possible to meet your needs, then focus your energy — and your budget — on creating a poolside environment you’ll never want to leave. The best poolscape designs integrate the pool, deck and patio, draw inspiration from nature, and reflect your personal style.

Winterizing Your Pool The #1 enemy: freezing. When water freezes, it expands with enormous force. It’s the force that breaks up highways, splits garden hoses, explodes beverage cans in your freezer, and it’s the force that expands and cracks pool pipes, filters, pumps and skimmer baskets. If you are closing up your pool for the winter, you should always take precautions to protect from freeze damage no matter where you live—even pool owners in the South have learned, to their regret, that freezing temperatures are an ever-present risk.
